Carroll reveals he was sexually assaulted in 2021

Andy Carroll has disclosed in his autobiography "Owning it" that he was sexually assaulted by a man at his home in 2021, during his second spell at Newcastle. The attacker, a friend of his then-partner who had come to watch a boxing match, assaulted him while he slept; Carroll threw him out and knocked him unconscious when he tried to return, before calling police. The man was later convicted of sexual offences, jailed for three years and placed on the sex offender register, with Carroll describing testifying in court as "humiliating and embarrassing and absolutely horrendous." Carroll, now player/co-owner at Dagenham & Redbridge, said the trauma affected every part of his life and hasn't gone away, but he decided to share it publicly in hope it might help others.
