Former Liverpool FC co-owner George Gillett Jr. has died at the age of 87. Gillett and fellow American Tom Hicks took over the club in February 2007, with their ownership ending in October 2010 when Fenway Sports Group bought Liverpool. Gillett also owned NHL side the Montreal Canadiens from 2001 to 2009. Liverpool FC has sent condolences to his family and friends.
