Scots recall 'versatile' Kerr & Thomas for World Cup play-offs

Scotland head coach Melissa Andreatta has recalled Sam Kerr and Martha Thomas to the squad for next month's World Cup round one play-off against the Czech Republic, with legs on 9 October in Pardubice and four days later at St Mirren Park. Kerr, capped 34 times but uncalled since February 2025, has been playing right-back for Liverpool this season, while Thomas returns for the first time since October, when she won her 50th cap. Also recalled are Freya Gregory, Sophie Howard and Maria McAneny, while Leah Eddie, Kenzie Weir, Eilidh Adams and Laura Berry drop out; Mia McAulay keeps her place. Scotland, unbeaten and top of their qualifying group, are aiming to progress towards a place at next summer's World Cup in Brazil, having missed the last two Euros and the 2023 World Cup.
