Aston Martin 'approach made' for shock Charles Leclerc swoop from Ferrari

Reports from Motorsport indicate Aston Martin approached Charles Leclerc at the end of 2025 to sign from Ferrari, amid team instability following the replacement of team principal Andy Cowell with Adrian Newey, though it's unclear whether he'd have replaced Fernando Alonso or Lance Stroll. Leclerc declined to seriously entertain the offer and instead signed a new Ferrari deal keeping him at Maranello until at least 2030. Leclerc's manager Nicolas Todt also reportedly held talks with Mercedes about Leclerc replacing the departing Lewis Hamilton, and with McLaren's Andrea Stella and Zak Brown, though Leclerc says he never personally spoke to other teams and quickly agreed terms with Ferrari.
