F1's future 2030 engine plans revealed

A framework has reportedly been agreed among F1's major stakeholders for the sport's next engine, arriving in 2030: a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V8 rather than a return to naturally aspirated units, according to Motorsport.com. A "push-to-pass" overtake button similar to IndyCar's system may also be introduced. The turbo choice is attributed to noise-emission limits at street circuits including Melbourne, Miami, Madrid, Singapore, Baku and Las Vegas, though there is an intention to make the new engines somewhat louder than current ones.
