Former driver warns Leclerc about F1 pressures

David Coulthard, a former Williams, McLaren and Red Bull driver, has cautioned Charles Leclerc against overplaying his "poster boy" image, saying F1 is "serious" and "dangerous business" rather than "a weekend away picnic." Speaking on the Up To Speed podcast about whether Ferrari should have already named a number-one driver over Lewis Hamilton, Coulthard said Leclerc's family-man persona—featuring his wife Alexandra, their dog Leo, and their expected first child in the paddock—goes "a bit too much," though he conceded this view might reflect his "older generation." He also addressed the Hamilton-Leclerc rivalry, noting Hamilton has led his teammate in the standings for much of the season, though Ferrari has now gone five rounds without a podium.
