Formula 1 announces 2027 calendar with 10 Sprints

F1 and the FIA, with World Motor Sport Council approval, have confirmed the 2027 calendar: 24 Grands Prix in 22 countries, opening in Bahrain and closing with Qatar and Abu Dhabi, and featuring the return of Portugal and Türkiye. Sprint events expand from six to ten, with Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi hosting Sprints for the first time (Monaco getting two qualifying sessions), while Montréal, Silverstone, Monza, São Paulo and Lusail retain their Sprint slots. The expansion is attributed to strong fan and viewership data gathered since the Sprint format's 2021 introduction, including higher viewership, popularity of Sprint Qualifying over Free Practice, and positive attendee and fan surveys.
