Major insurers adopt shared provider credentialing program

UnitedHealthcare, Cigna and Centene have signed on to a new shared provider credentialing model developed by CertifyOS, aiming to standardize and streamline how physicians and other providers are verified across insurers. The program is designed to cut down on duplicative paperwork and administrative costs currently borne by providers who must undergo separate credentialing processes for each payer. All three insurers are participating in the initiative as founding or early adopters of the national system.
