901 Dead in Outbreak; 8 Hospitalized After Cheese Consumption; New FDA Approvals

The Ebola outbreak in Congo has reached 8,067 confirmed cases with 3,901 deaths, while Pennsylvania's measles outbreak has grown to 890 cases and Hillsborough County, Florida declared a state of emergency after locally acquired dengue cases hit 170. Separately, the FDA reported 13 illnesses and eight hospitalizations across nine states linked to an E. coli outbreak tied to recalled raw-milk cheese from Sierra Nevada Graziers, alongside additional recall warnings for a cinnamon seasoning (lead contamination) and alfalfa sprouting seeds (E. coli/Salmonella risk). The FDA also issued new approvals: zilurgisertib for fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva in patients 12 and older, an expanded approval of baricitinib for severe alopecia areata in children 12 and up, and approval of belzutifan plus lenvatinib for previously treated advanced renal cell carcinoma.
