Battle Over Cardiologist Non-Competes; Declines Well Before CVD; GLP-1s and Stroke

In upstate New York, Ellis Medicine and St. Peter's Health Partners are in court over non-compete agreements covering 27 cardiologists, with patients at risk of losing care depending on the outcome. Separately, a nested case-control study in JAMA Cardiology found that measurable functional decline appears as early as a decade before a cardiovascular disease event, suggesting a long window for identifying higher-risk individuals. A Swedish nationwide study in eClinicalMedicine also reported that GLP-1 drugs were associated with reduced stroke risk in people with type 2 diabetes, while SGLT-2 inhibitors and DPP-4 inhibitors showed neutral effects on stroke risk.
