'Caps bow out of TELUS Canadian Championship

Vancouver Whitecaps FC were eliminated from the TELUS Canadian Championship after a 2-1 loss to CF Montréal in the second leg at Stade Saputo. Montréal took a 2-0 halftime lead via two contested penalty/video-review decisions, with Prince Owusu converting the penalty and later finishing a breakaway. Emmanuel Sabbi scored late for Vancouver in the 91st minute off a Caicedo-Badwal build-up, but it wasn't enough, ending the Whitecaps' bid for a fifth straight Voyageurs Cup. The club now returns to MLS regular-season action against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, September 19.
