Charlotte FC vs. D.C. United

Charlotte FC defeated D.C. United 2-1 at Audi Field on September 19, giving Head Coach Dean Smith his 50th win in all competitions in less than three years in charge. Ashley Westwood opened the scoring in the 22nd minute in his first match back from suspension, D.C. United equalized through Lucas Bartlett in the 47th minute off a Keisuke Kurokawa free-kick cross, and Allan Saint-Maximin scored his first goal for Charlotte in the 71st minute to secure the win. Kristijan Kahlina made several saves to keep United at bay, and Harry Toffolo returned from a hamstring injury as a substitute in the 69th minute.
