Portland's summer signings debut

Atlanta United started all five of its Secondary Transfer Window signings for the first time in a road match against Portland Timbers, with Giuliano Galoppo making his club debut in midfield alongside Mauricio Amaro and Tristan Muyumba, while Breel Embolo, Paulo Díaz and Júnior Alonso also featured. Díaz joined Alonso, Tomás Jacob and Elías Báez in defense in front of goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos, who was coming off consecutive clean sheets against D.C. United, while Embolo started his third straight match up front alongside Miguel Almirón and Alexey Miranchuk. Notable stats included Almirón's career-long streak of 11 straight matches with multiple chances created and Embolo's 13 fouls won through his first three matches, the second-highest total in MLS history over that span since 2010.
