The LA Galaxy underwent significant roster turnover during the transfer window ahead of facing Minnesota United at Allianz Field. The club sold forward Gabriel Pec, who had 43 goals and 28 assists in two-and-a-half seasons, to Cruzeiro for a club-record fee, and also lost several regular starters including defenders Yamane and Cuevas, weakening the back line. Since Pec's departure the Galaxy have won just two of 11 matches while scoring only nine goals, though they have brought in replacements such as defender Lucas Calegari, who rejoined the club in September, plus midfielders Sergi Roberto and Pablo Ruiz. Homegrown defender Harbor Miller had been filling in at right back before Calegari's return, and the new arrivals are expected to factor heavily into Saturday's matchup.
