Whitecaps FC to observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Vancouver Whitecaps FC will mark Orange Shirt Day/National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at Saturday's home match against D.C. United at BC Place, featuring a pre-match moment of reflection, performance of the Coast Salish anthem, and a supporter-organized visual display. Players will wear orange Every Child Matters warmup shirts designed by Indigenous artist K.C. Hall, sold in partnership with UNYA and MAKE Vancouver with all profits going to UNYA youth programming. On Monday, October 2, the club will observe the statutory holiday by pausing youth programs nationwide and closing its office, and the release also notes the club's ongoing reconciliation efforts, including three mini-pitches built with Tla'amin Nation, Penelaku Tribe, and Snaw-naw-as/Nanoose First Nation.
