Rey Mysterio vs Omos at Triplemania 34
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, now serving as general manager of AAA, faced 7-foot-3 giant Omos in the main event of Triplemania 34 Night 1 in Las Vegas -- the first time in AAA history Triplemania has been held as a two-night, two-country event (Las Vegas then Mexico City) and, coincidentally, more than three decades after Mysterio (then Rey Misterio Jr.) competed in the very first Triplemania in 1993. Mysterio had suspended Omos after the giant injured a fellow wrestler and attacked him in August, and set up the match after Mysterio himself provoked Omos; going in, Mysterio said Omos's size didn't faze him, since he'd been the smallest kid in his training class since age 8 and had long fought bigger opponents, calling the match a chance to establish authority as GM: 'They have to know their boundaries... this is what I had to do for Omos to respect some authority.' If Mysterio lost, Omos would be reinstated to the AAA roster; if he won, Omos would be permanently barred.
