Giants' 9/11 remembrance ceremony
MetLife Stadium marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with an extended pregame tribute before the New York Giants hosted the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. Fans arriving at the stadium passed FDNY's ceremonial Ladder 343 truck and an authentic World Trade Center steel beam displayed by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, while two vertical columns of light echoing the Trade Center's 'Tribute in Light' lit the night sky above the stadium. NYPD and FDNY members performed the national anthem, players and Giants season-ticket holders stretched a 100-yard American flag end zone to end zone, and city first responders formed a gauntlet for player introductions; both teams' players and coaches wore commemorative NYPD, FDNY and PAPD hats plus 'Never Forget' T-shirts during warm-ups. Members of the Palumbo family, whose father died in the FDNY on 9/11, served as honorary coin-toss captains, and a photo montage of victims played during a moment of silence.
