CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin and fellow activists were escorted out of a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing on September 15 after wearing shirts supporting Iran and Cuba's Communist Party during a session titled 'Trojan Horses: Covert Foreign Malign Influence Operations in America.' Subcommittee Chairman Bill Huizenga said the clerk had deemed the shirts a form of protest; ranking Democrat Sydney Kamlager-Dove objected to the removal, arguing the activists were simply exercising free speech and had not been disruptive. Within about two hours, CodePink had posted an edited 43-second video of the incident and a subsequent confrontation with Rep. Randy Fine on social media.
