Russian drone attacks on Ukraine
A Russian drone strike hit a passenger minibus near Nikopol in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region on September 16, killing at least five people and injuring seven, according to regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha. Dnipropetrovsk regional council head Mykola Lukashuk said Russian forces had 'cynically struck a passenger bus' carrying people going about daily business; Nikopol sits across the Dnipro river from the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and has been a frequent target. Russia did not immediately comment. The same day brought further strikes: an explosion and a warehouse fire in Kyiv, an attack on energy infrastructure and an industrial facility in Poltava region, and a Russian claim of hitting a cargo vessel in Ukraine's Black Sea port of Chornomorsk near Odesa.
