Leon Black contempt of Congress case
The US House voted to hold billionaire investor Leon Black in contempt of Congress for defying subpoenas issued by the Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, referring the matter to the Justice Department to decide whether to pursue criminal charges. Black, who co-founded Apollo Global Management before leaving amid scrutiny of his Epstein ties in 2021, had walked out of a voluntary interview with the committee in June after being pressed about nondisclosure agreements, and the panel later subpoenaed him for those documents and an on-camera deposition; he has instead sued to block the committee from obtaining them.
