NCAA replay error in Michigan-Western Michigan game
The NCAA's FBS Oversight Committee confirmed on September 16 that instant-replay protocols were not properly followed on the decisive play of Michigan's September 5 season-opening win over Western Michigan, but said it has no authority to change the result. Michigan won 13-12 when a replay review put one second back on the clock after quarterback Bryce Underwood's first Hail Mary attempt fell incomplete, allowing him a second attempt that connected for the winning score. Confusion arose because Big Ten replay officials were reportedly working off a different clock reading than the one shown on the national NBC broadcast, which the network and conference later said had not been properly synced to the actual game clock.
