US strikes on Iranian school kill over 150
United Nations investigators said there are 'reasonable grounds' to believe the United States committed war crimes in a February 28 strike, alongside Israel, that hit a school in Iran and killed more than 150 people, finding the attack met the threshold of an indiscriminate strike causing civilian loss of life or injury. The investigators' report, due to be presented to the UN Human Rights Council, also said Iran's own government has intensified use of 'repressive laws' and 'lethal force' to suppress protests over rising living costs, describing 'gross human rights violations' against Iranian civilians; the report urges the council's 47 member states to press for an end to the conflict, pursue accountability for war crimes and offer asylum to civilians fleeing the country. Neither Iran, Israel nor the United States sits on the Human Rights Council.
