Arrest of Imran Khan's sister
Pakistani police arrested Aleema Khan, sister of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, at her home in Lahore on Sunday 20 September 2026, a week before a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) march planned for 27 September to demand his release. The order for her arrest, issued by Lahore's deputy commissioner under Punjab's Maintenance of Public Order law and seen by both the BBC and Al Jazeera, said she had been mobilising Imran Khan's supporters "through social media and public meetings," raising slogans against the government and working to "create law and order situations," and directed that she be held for 30 days at Kot Lakhpat jail.
