Trump's planned triumphal arch and military complex
Donald Trump said on Sunday 20 September 2026 that the triumphal arch he plans to build across the Potomac from Washington, just outside Arlington National Cemetery, would also serve as a "top grade Military Complex". Writing on Truth Social, he said he was updating the plans at the "strong request" of the US military and for national security purposes, and that the structure would "house, store, and have the rapid ability to use large numbers of drones, plus Snipers, on both the roof and plaza areas, and additionally have and hold large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage". He gave no detail on construction or timing, and it is not clear whether the facility needs further approval. "There will be no facility like this anywhere in the World," he wrote, adding that of "the 59 top cities and Capitals" Washington is the only one without a triumphal arch, without saying which cities he meant.
