Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow region
Ukraine launched what Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the biggest drone attack yet on the Russian capital overnight into Sunday 20 September 2026, the final day of a three-day parliamentary election. Sobyanin said more than 1,600 drones had been shot down across all fronts since the previous day, 450 of them approaching Moscow, and accused Ukraine of trying to disrupt the vote: "The unprecedented attack was clearly planned with the aim of disrupting the elections. The enemy did not succeed." There was no immediate comment from Kyiv.
