Xi-Trump summit preparations
Asian investors are demanding clearer proof that AI spending translates into actual revenue and earnings rather than just exposure to the technology, Bank of America's head of Asia-Pacific research Chris Oberoi said, describing a maturing sector where 'fundamentals drive everything' - the same shift toward earnings scrutiny already seen in the US AI trade. The survey lands days ahead of the Xi-Trump summit in Washington, where trade and technology are expected to feature prominently. China is working both the diplomatic and messaging fronts ahead of that meeting: Foreign Minister Wang Yi called German counterpart Johann Wadephul urging Berlin to 'maintain a rational and pragmatic approach' and help stave off EU trade sanctions on Chinese goods before EU leaders assess the bloc's China trade deficit in mid-October, while a front-page People's Daily article stressed 'constructive strategic stability' and said 'positive factors in bilateral interactions continue to increase' since Xi and Trump's last meeting in Beijing four months ago.
