Arab voters in Israeli elections
Updated vote counts from Israel's election show Arab parties winning a record 19 seats, up from the 17 projected in initial exit polls, while Benjamin Netanyahu has edged ahead in the race for government. During the campaign Netanyahu warned of a surge in Arab voter turnout threatening his coalition, a claim Arab political leaders denounced as a racist attempt to delegitimize their community's participation.
