Erin Patterson's mushroom murder appeal

Erin Patterson, convicted last year of murdering three relatives and attempting to kill a fourth by serving them a meal containing death cap mushrooms, returned to an Australian court to appeal against her conviction. She is serving a life sentence.

The appeal turns on what the BBC described as a 'catastrophic' hotel booking mix-up - reporting framed it as the error that could free her - alongside the other grounds her lawyers have advanced for overturning the verdict.
