Spain's housing crisis and elderly eviction

The eviction of 87-year-old Maricarmen Abascal from her Madrid home sparked nationwide housing protests, and Spain's coalition government approved measures including a ban on evictions until 2030. Spain's Congress then rejected the two decree-laws containing the measures, a defeat for Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez that increases pressure on him to call a snap election. Abascal is to return home after a deal with the property's owners, her lawyer said.
