Iran's offer to reopen Strait of Hormuz
Iran offered the US a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping within seven days, and Trump rejected it as not acceptable. Iran says it will wait for an official US response, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he expects a formal answer on Tuesday after Qatari intermediaries raise the matter with Washington again. In exchange for reopening the strait, Tehran is seeking guarantees including a regional ceasefire, the lifting of sanctions on its oil sector and an end to the US naval blockade.
