Haze-related school closures in Malaysia
Schools in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang and Penang reopened on October 19 as haze conditions eased, joining Kuala Lumpur, where classes had already resumed on October 19 with outdoor activities kept suspended as a precaution. The reopenings cap weeks of rolling closures that began in early October in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Selangor and later spread to Johor, which had extended its shutdown to October 16 amid worsening air quality.
