The French student protests and security deployment

The French government has declared Saturday's nationwide student-led protests a success despite nearly 1,000 arrests made on their sidelines. The demonstrations took place under an unprecedented deployment of 70,000 police officers ordered by Macron's government, following calls from student groups for fresh protests and a suspected terror attack near Paris. Major Paris museums had closed as a precaution ahead of the demonstrations.
