End of the Kherson ceasefire
The ceasefire in Ukraine's Kherson region, called the longest truce of the war, has collapsed after being extended briefly in late October. Russian strikes that followed its end knocked out power to thousands of people across Ukraine. During the pause in fighting, Kherson residents had returned to markets and streets, with some calling the city "alive" again, though many had already voiced fear about what would happen once the truce lapsed.
