Mackenzie Phillips' incest revelation
Actress Mackenzie Phillips, 66, revealed in an upcoming episode of Valerie Bertinelli's 'Getting Naked' podcast that she has been celibate for 15 years, explaining that after busy days she has 'no words left' and needs solitude to recharge rather than social or romantic connection: 'I've had enough sex to last for several lifetimes for several people... the parts of me that were injured or wounded, I can care for them myself.' Bertinelli, who has also gone through periods of celibacy including nearly two years without physical intimacy, said there was 'nothing wrong with being celibate.' Phillips has been married three times -- to music manager Jeff Sessler (divorced 1981), guitarist Shane Fontayne (married 14 years, split 2000) and Keith Levenson (married 2005, divorced two years later).
The disclosure came amid a broader wave of Hollywood women publicly embracing celibacy: Sharon Stone said on the 'Mayim Bialik's Breakdown' podcast that she has been celibate for a long stretch and is now looking for a true companion rather than casual relationships, reflecting on marriages to producer Michael Greenburg (divorced 1990) and journalist Phil Bronstein (1998-2004) and saying she isn't sure she's yet had 'the great love' of her life. Separately, 'Desperate Housewives' actress Teri Hatcher, 61, told HELLO! she hasn't been on a date in about seven years and is 'so single,' citing a lack of new people to meet and recalling being kicked off a dating app after her profile was mistakenly flagged as fake; she has been married twice, to trainer Marcus Liethold (1989, divorced within a year) and to Jon Tenney (1994-2003), with whom she had a daughter.
