The French school student protests
French student protests over teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms and crumbling school buildings remain at full strength, with 480,000 students and tens of thousands of other demonstrators turning out across the country in the latest day of action. More than 6,000 people have been arrested since the unrest began, and police use of stun grenades has been suspended after a 15-year-old lost a hand to one in Lens, with 18 internal probes into alleged police brutality under way. Students say they are not giving up the fight, and President Macron has summoned ministers to address the crisis.
