The Letitia James re-election race and controversies

Letitia James is facing calls to recuse herself from an investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving a Cornell student, with the student's lawyer pointing to a past controversial tweet as evidence of potential bias. The probe has renewed scrutiny of an earlier sexual misconduct lawsuit filed against James. Amid this, her Republican rival in the attorney general race has intensified attacks, releasing a mock 52-count "indictment" styled after her own prosecutorial tactics and landing pointed public jabs at her record.
