US bomber withdrawal from RAF Fairford
The US Air Force has withdrawn all its B-1 Lancer bombers from RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England, ending a deployment that had placed the aircraft at the base amid heightened security concerns. The move empties the facility of its rotational bomber presence, which had been used to support operations and exercises in Europe. No replacement aircraft have been announced to take their place at the base. Downing Street has insisted RAF Fairford remains safe despite the withdrawal, and President Trump has said a "threat" prompted the US to pull the bombers out.
